Book

We went to the bookstore last Saturday. I promised the kids long ago that once Hatice is able to read, a visit to a bookstore once a month will be held. I kept to my word.

What did he choose? Baddin and his obsession towards cars?

Yup! this is the book he chose. I read to him the book. I think since his sister can read now. He wants to read too...well..at least listen to someone reading to him..

I think this is a good start towards a love of reading. Hopefully, once he can read next year, he will want to read as much as his sister. Keep up the good interest my dear son!!

Character analysis

We were having our breakfast yesterday as a family when he said:

*B:..... has been transferred to another class*

we were shocked of course. Why would the teacher transfer a student to another class.?? They must have been a concrete reason. There is. It seems that B always punch his friends.

I suppose baddin must be sad inside since B was his first friend in class.

During the last moms' get together...i noticed that baddin's teacher named a few names as the most *active* (u know what i mean)..in class. All the names (including B) r are the names of friends baddin always tell us about. Baddin an introvert mixing with extroverts?? That is a very uusual situation i think..

So far he has improved on hs speech. He is able to express himself more. He is also more social..which is good. But as i had said in the last entry, he is also (which is unavoidable) learning and using words i do not approve of at home. I have to monitor his language. I even threatened him with hot chillies (and trust me i will do it)..if he keeps on using those words at home. At home at least, he is under control... but i hope he will be able to differentiate the acceptable usage of words from the unacceptable ones... he is also using *please* less and i have to keep on reminding him on that subject..

i suppose this is part of growing up... but i have all the intention of making sure that he will not be growing into a terrible mannered person...insyaAllah...his manner will be ok.Adab is what makes a person... that is what i strongly believe...

so...BADDİN...BEHAVE YOURSELF!!

His dede's death and update

May you rest in peace dede!
His last Summer in Sapanca 2007
our family with his dede
Baddin n his cousins singing a special song for his dede, when he celebrated his 80th birthday 2 years ago..

summer in sapanca 2007

Dede!! catch me when i jump!!
Sapanca summer 2007
Sabahattin senior and Sabahaddin Junior
What is in the name?? It's everything i think..at least for my son. After his dede died, he told me that now there is only one sabahaddin left.
He was and is affected by this loss...mainly because, like his sister, he spent most of his life with his dede around. He didnt get to understand the love of a grandma since his baba anne died when he was a baby... my own parents are far away.
No matter how *macho he tries to be...his devastation is obvious to me. He tries to hold his tears from falling...but at times..it was far too difficult to do. But he is lucky. He got to see his dede 3 times after his dede was hospitalised;one time when he went to the hospital with his class teacher, his sister n her class teacher, önder bey and the school headmaster... the next two on saturday mornings... He was lucky too that during that last saturday when he went to visit his dede with his sister.....he got to see a happy dede... he kissed his cheeks as he said goodbye...that was the last time ....the last morning his dede was conscious.....
Despite the emotional turmoil, i am happy to know that my son is in good hands. His teacher , Hulya Furuncu has been monitoring his emotional well being.... the rest of the teachers are being understanding as well... For that..from the bottom of my heart...we THANK YOU...hakınız helal olsun....
What is his development so far? Well.. baddin has expanded his language skills... he is better in expressing himself. ...though sometimes i have to threat him (,ie...i will give him chilli ) for using words i do not approve of....he is improving in a lot of ways. I am happy on that. Having 9 boys in the class naturally spark his interest in cars....now he is a car maniac... he said that when he grows up..he will buy a BMW car... and i told him... *WOrk and study hard in class then!! BMW is not a cheap car!!* heheheh
i think he is better in everything...improving himself and developing his potential. I think his best lesson is english... and he is happy about it. I know baddin is a difficult student as an overall since he needs extra attention in everything..and i thank all the teachers for their patience and not giving up on my son.
As a mother, my instinct tells me that he will be a *somebody* once he grows up. i hope my instinct is right. And since he carries the name of an honourary one... i also have this responsibility of not shaming the man who had the name. InsyaAllah..Sabahaddin junior will not shame and make the Sabahattin senior proud. That is a heavy responsibility indeed..and i am not making a pressure on him over it... He will grow up with his potential being developed to the max...if Allah is willing..
This is the eulogy i wrote of his dede and was published in Today's Zaman, an english newspaper...
Baddin... your dede loves you very much...as much as you love him...
Please my son... don't be too sad and remember him in your prayers...especially when you listen to the Yasin on the mp3 every bed time...
love you loads!
